ACEOs

ACEOs are Art Card Editions and Originals. They’re created by artists to be sold and traded to collectors the same way any other trading card is.

The only hard set rule for these cards is that they must be 2.5 × 3.5 inches, the standard trading card size. Other than that, they can be acrylic, watercolor, oil, crayon, collage, ink, cross stitch, or whatever other medium you can fit on the card!

I’ve been partaking in creating ACEOs for a few months now and the community is amazing. All the artists are so supportive of one another and friendly. Even the buyers all seem to be nice in my experience.

While some artists list their ACEOs on multiple sites like Tiny Gallery and Etsy, ebay seems to be the more widely used platform for selling. Weekly bids is the culture of selling the cards with many starting their bids at $0.99. This is an ebay specific strategy due to the site’s favoritism towards the $0.99 auctions - your listings will get a visibility boost over ACEO listings that have a flat price or start bidding at a higher price. Obviously, artists take the risk of their pieces selling for only $0.99, but catering to specific themes (like cats or landscapes) can give them a better chance of receiving higher bids.

I use ACEOs mainly for practicing and experimenting with techniques. My acrylic pieces tend to explore unique color palettes, watercolor pieces play with technique, and ink pieces dive into light and dark compositions.

Check out my ebay shop! My goal is to upload a new batch of pieces every week, all starting at the $0.99 bid. Follow me there or on TikTok and Instagram to stay up to date on each week’s paintings.
