Hi, I’m Alexis Kole!
I’m a Michigander doing art in Chicagoland. Over the years, I’ve dabbled in acrylic painting, digital illustration, sidewalk chalk, graphic design, and really anything that tickles my fancy. Now, I’m working to bring all these passions together.
With so many mediums to work with, my style changes to fit any project. Most prominent will be the influence of 90s and early 2000s cartoons like Looney Toons and Danny Phantom. In addition to that, I can emulate nearly any style whether it’s firehose cartoons or children’s book illustrations or detailed DnD scenes.
Painting
Acrylic paints are my go to. I enjoy both the intention required of the medium and the way I can immediately cover anything that isn’t right.
Abstract is the best way to describe the style I lean towards, though flowers have made their way into my work in recent years, in a literal sense. A few years ago, I began pressing flower petals and hanging bouquets in my windows to dry. The dried petals have a delicate paper quality to them. I recreate flower forms over abstract backgrounds, mixing and matching petals, flower buds, and greenery, and accenting everything with gold. The final pieces look best displayed in a shadow box to preserve the fragile petals.
Check out this piece I did as a commission after the passing of a friend’s cat. I used the flowers from bouquets she received to create the piece. If you find yourself in a similar situation or celebrating a special occasion with flowers and want a unique way to preserve that memory, I can do the same for you! Contact me with an inquiry about flower paintings and we can talk about how to turn your special flowers into paintings.
Where to buy
While I work on establishing an inventory and shop through this website, most of my work is only available in person or as special order.
To find me in person, check out my blog and social media for updates on markets and pop-ups. I’ll be consistently at Enki’s Market at Dollop Coffee throughout the summer and fall. This is where you’ll be able to purchase prints, stickers, and paintings.
ACEOs
Art card editions and originals. I’m experimenting with creating and selling these on ebay. They’ll include inked and gesture pieces, acrylic color and light studies, maybe portraits of cartoon characters.
