Snail Mail Club

What is it?

The Snail Mail Club is a monthly bundle of exclusive art sent right to your mailbox the old-fashioned way!

With digital media and ai becoming so prominent, this bundle aims to give a reprieve that encourages you to sit down and create something by hand.

What will you get?

The Cup of Joe snail mail club is a coffee themed bundle of art and information.

It begins with going to a cafe, doing some people watching, some sketching, and leaving with a bag of beans. From there, obviously brewing those beans into delicious coffee is the next step. As a barista of ten years, I know a few ways to brew coffee and can try various methods to figure out which one brings the flavors out the best. All the information I get from this - the cafe, the beans, brewing methods - will be compiled into a mini zine that is piece one of the club.

Before I drink all of the coffee, I’ll spill some as artfully as I can manage and ink over it to create an illustration. This simultaneously creates pieces two and three of the bundle. Piece two is a print of the art I make from the coffee. Piece three is hidden in the folds of the zine. Unfurl it and reveal the outline of the coffee spill so you can try your hand at drawing on it, too!

The final piece of the bundle is a sticker, one that will be exclusive to the mail club.

Why is it so special?

This club is specifically designed around creating by hand. While much of my art is done on the computer, most of the pieces of the club are created with physical media. This includes the coffee, the hand inking, even the base of the zine is created through scrapbooking methods to minimize how much time I’m spending in front of my computer screen and to celebrate what humans can make with their own two hands.

The hope is to encourage others to also use their hands, whether that be in trying out brewing their own coffee at home or in sitting down and doodling all over the back of the zine. Take a break from the screen and enjoy an activity that tickles the little human in your soul that wants to get its hands dirty.

How does it work?

Cup of Joe is hosted on Posthouse. This is where to subscribe to the club.

You have until the 20th of each month to get on the list for next month’s mail bundle. On the first of the month, I’ll send out the letters through the USPS and they should arrive in 5-7 business days.
